This album features my photographic exploration of the Indigenous People’s march on June 21s 2012 during the Rio+20 conference in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. As part of the activities a very spacial ceremony was held to celebrate World Peace and Prayer day with Chief Arvol Looking Horse,19th Generation Keeper of the Sacred White Buffalo Calf Pipe and world renowned activist and spiritual leader.
The Pax Gaia Research Project along with Peace 2012 and various associated groups dedicated to the preservation of ancestral knowledge, are calling for planetary convergence on sacred sites during eight significant dates during the year 2012 leading up to December 21st.This project is called “Serpiente Emplumada” or the “Feathered Serpent”in honor of the ancient Mesoamerican deity Quetzalcoatl, who was associated with the planet Venus and was lauded as the bringer of culture and civilization.
The idea behind the Serpiente Emplumada Project is to highlight the most significant dates in 2012 and to create appropriate ceremonies that honor these important times in order to generate a critical mass and awaken a new Earth and a new humanity. With this intention, they are helping to organize different academic and cultural forums on archeoastronomy and ancient Mesoamerican calendar systems.
