“It’s everyday life for us that we hold Grandmother Earth sacred, we hold the trees and the plants, everything has a spirit. We need people to be really respectful for each other. The Great Spirit put us here all together. If we’re going to survive, we need to have spirit and compassion. On June 21 we’re asking people to go to their sacred places or sacred spaces to pray.” Chief Arvol Looking Horse” 19th generation Keeper of the Sacred White Buffalo Calf Pipe
The Pax Gaia Research Project along with Peace 2012 and various associated groups dedicated to the preservation of ancestral knowledge, are calling for planetary convergence on sacred sites during eight significant dates during the year 2012 leading up to December 21st.This project is called “Serpiente Emplumada” or the “Feathered Serpent”in honor of the ancient Mesoamerican deity Quetzalcoatl, who was associated with the planet Venus and was lauded as the bringer of culture and civilization.
The idea behind the Serpiente Emplumada Project is to highlight the most significant dates in 2012 and to create appropriate ceremonies that honor these important times in order to generate a critical mass and awaken a new Earth and a new humanity. With this intention, they are helping to organize different academic and cultural forums on archeoastronomy and ancient Mesoamerican calendar systems.
